Kamala Harris’ team has responded after Donald Trump asked her Blackness at the National Association of Black Journalists Convention in Chicago. A statement released by the Vice President’s campaign stated, “Trump needs to stop playing games…”
As earlier reported by media, the ex president came for Kamala’s biracial identity, claiming she only nearly started identifying as Black.
He said, “I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black. Now she wants to be known as Black.” Donald alleged Kamala previously only identified herself as “of Indian heritage.”
He questioned, “So, I don’t know. Is she Indian or is she Black? A journalist on the panel tried to correct Trump, saying that Kamala “has always identified as a Black woman and she went to a historically Black college.”
In addition, Kamala’s team defended her. Communications Director Michael Tyler released the statement, writing, “The hostility Donald Trump showed on stage today [as] the same hostility he has shown throughout his life…”
Later, the statement noted that “…he seeks to gain power and inflict his harmful Project 2025 agenda on the American people.” Kamala’s campaign included, “Trump lobbed personal attacks and insults at Black journalists the exact way he did throughout his presidency — while he failed Black families…”
Moreover, Harris’ team said what occurred on stage is an example of the “…chaos and division that has been a hallmark of Trump’s MAGA rallies.” And Donnie would offer nothing more if they debated.
The message closed, stating, “All Donald Trump needs to do is stop playing games and actually show up to the debate on September 10.”
