The Smurfs are a tribe of little blue creatures who live in mushroom-shaped houses in the forest, created by Belgian artist Peyo in 1958.

They have since been turned into various films and TV series, including a trio of live-action movies made by Sony in 2011, 2013 and 2017 and voiced by stars including Neil Patrick Harris, Julia Roberts and Katy Perry.

Smurfette, who was the first female Smurf to be introduced into the series, was played by singer Demi Lovato in the last movie.

The film, which will be directed by Chris Miller and written by Pam Brady, is due to hit cinemas in February 2025.
