Steph’s back. And just as the Warriors are finally figuring things out.

Before Thursday night’s 115-91 beatdown of the Clippers, Steve Kerr said that Curry “looks good” and is “getting close.”

He ruled Curry out for Friday night’s game against the Pelicans in San Francisco but left the door open for Sunday afternoon’s game against the Lakers in Los Angeles.

During the game broadcast Thursday, TNT reported that Curry “intends to make his return” Sunday, “barring a setback.” All of a sudden, things are looking pretty good.

Curry has been out since Feb. 4, missing the team’s last 10 games (plus at least one more) with several leg injuries. (In perhaps the most detailed injury report ever, the Warriors say he has “partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane, as well as a contusion to his left lower leg.”) The last week has seen the Curry-less Warriors start clicking, reeling off four straight wins, including Thursday night’s impressive dismissal of the Clips.

After Friday night, Curry will have played in just 38 of the Dubs’ 64 games, but the team has stayed afloat. At 33-30, they’re fifth in a logjammed West, just a game out of the No. 4 seed … and a game clear of the play-in, and three games clear of the lottery. A healthy Curry is exactly what this team needs right now.
