Steph even checks his peers out to see how their pre-game fashion game has been doing.

Admittedly, Golden State Warriors star point guard Steph Curry began kicking his pre-game fashion up a notch when he realized that cameras and fans ensured that they watched every step he took from the parking lot to the arena.

It happened sometime around 2013, and since then, “Chef Curry” has made it a point that his outfit looks sharp and crisp as he makes his pre-game walk.

As Curry sees it, pre-game fashion has become an important part of their career, and most take it very seriously.

“You stress over outfits for days, and you wind up wearing it for 30 seconds when you walk from the parking lot to the locker room,” Curry told The New York Times in 2016.

Look good, feel good, play good

Some of Curry’s peers like to take their pre-game fashion to another level. For instance, Russell Westbrook once showed up with a skirt and ultimately became a meme sensation in the process. That’s Brodie’s style. Curry, meanwhile, likes to keep it simple yet perfect for the camera.

For Curry, who often comes to the arena with a sweater, jacket or coat, jeans, and matching sneakers, the goal is to look, feel, and play well.

“I’ve got to make sure everything looks good coming out of the car,” Curry confided. “You don’t want to have a missed button or a wrinkled shirt. I would wear most of this stuff anyway, especially for the playoffs. You want to feel good for each game.”

Even in fashion, Curry confessed that his competitive drive makes him go and check out what his rivals have been up to.

“You want to see what the other guys are doing [too],” he admitted.

The future is a bit over the top
Over time, NBA stars have followed and started various fashion trends. As expected, some find it amusing, while others are left annoyed.

In the 2023 NBA Draft, the league’s future got the chance to showcase their fashion game in a special event. Some donned the traditional coat and tie, but some boasted their jewelry along with more modern and stylish suits.

Needless to say, the draftees have the liberty to rock whatever outfit of their choice but according to four-time NBA champion John Salley, those outfits were terrible and unbecoming for professional basketball players.

“I just want to say that at the draft some of y’all outfits are horrible and trash. Period. The chain with just your shirt, and your suit. Cut it out. You are not a rapper. Not a rapper. Stop it,” Salley exclaimed. “… You are holding more than just you. You are carrying the league and your family and you. Dress like a professional.”
