Relationship between the former boxing mentor and his mentee is at breaking point
50 Cent has entered the fray amid the ongoing feud between Floyd Mayweather and Gervonta Davis, lending credibility to Davis‘s startling allegations and seizing the opportunity to deliver some jabs of his own.
On Saturday (April 27), the G-Unit leader took to Instagram to share tweets from Davis, who had launched a barrage of verbal shots at Mayweather, insinuating that Mayweather needed “a wire” to find his way home, in reference to Davis‘s claim that Mayweather was essentially held captive in Dubai.
Appearing to endorse Davis‘s assertions, 50 Cent offered his opinion.
“Oh nah, this shit is real,” 50 Cent declared.
He expressed solidarity with Davis, acknowledging their past disagreements but asserting his willingness to extend financial support to Mayweather if needed.
Has there always been an issue between the pair?
The rift between the boxers originated from Mayweather‘s recent remarks, where he criticized other fighters for adopting his flashy persona without putting in the requisite effort. Davis interpreted this as a direct slight and retaliated with his hostage allegation.
While Mayweather‘s social media activity confirms his presence in Dubai earlier in the month, there is no concrete evidence to support the claim that he is being detained there.
50 Cent is no stranger to needling Mayweather, as demonstrated in February when he mocked Mayweather for his stance on Diddy‘s 𝑠e𝑥ual assault allegations. Mayweather‘s refusal to condemn Diddy during a podcast appearance prompted 50 Cent to ridicule him on Instagram, questioning Mayweather‘s intelligence and accusing him of sounding like a hater.
Their history of antagonism stretches back years, with 50 Cent famously challenging Mayweather‘s reading abilities in 2014 and offering a substantial charitable donation if Mayweather could read a page from a Harry Potter book without stumbling. Despite a brief reconciliation in 2022, it appears that their relationship has once again soured.
