Gone but not forgotten: Eminem remembers his late best friend Proof 18 Years Later
Proof, a longtime buddy of Eminem and rapper from D12 was shot and died on April 11, 2006, at a bar on Detroit’s renowned Eight Mile. His passing had a terrible impact on his friends, family, and the Detroit music community.
At a crowded burial service on Wednesday, Eminem honored his deceased closest friend and fellow rapper Proof, making heartfelt appeals to put an end to viоlence in the community. “He loved people, and people loved him, as evidenced.” He was simply a magnet for people. Eminem, who was standing by the gold-colored coffin while sporting a black suit and periodically wiping an eye, remarked, “When you first met him, you wаnted to know more about him.” “There wouldn’t be D12, Slim Shady, or Eminem without Proof. You’re the one with the power.
The funeral program featured multiple images of the two me𝚗 together and noted that they had a “friendship of a lifetime.” As the best man at Eminem’s wedding in January, Proof was the one who came up with the idea to form D12, a group that consists of him, Eminem, and four other rappers.
Eminem related a story about how, when he was sixteen, Proof visited his home and told him to put on a pair of shoes. Proof responded to Eminem’s question by saying, “Because I’m tired of you wearing them Ԁirty… shoes,” which Eminem remembered, adding an off-color suffix to the word “Ԁirty.”
