This morning, the Prince of Wales, who serves as the president of the Football Association (FA), paid a visit to the England men’s football team to wish them good luck ahead of their UEFA European Football Championship.
Prince William had some very important advice from his youngest son, Prince Louis, to deliver to the English football team before they head for the continent for the 2024 Euros.
Surprisingly, the young royal urged the Three Lions to eat double portions ahead of the matches to help them storm to victory.
Traveling to St George’s Park, William chatted with manager Gareth Southgate and handed each player their squad number shirt before they kick off their campaign against Serbia on Sunday night.
Speaking with the team, Prince William shared, “I was on the school run this morning, and I asked the kids what should I say to the England team today. The best bit of advice I got was to eat twice the amount you would normally eat.” William added with a laugh, imagining the players running around with huge bellies and stitches, suggesting that they might want to take Louis’s advice with a grain of salt.
However, when asked about Louis’s suggestion to eat twice as much food to prepare for the tournament, England Captain Harry Kane responded with good humor, noting that their nutritionist might not appreciate such advice.
William, who is known for his love of football, has often shared his passion with his oldest son, Prince George. The 10-year-old heir to the throne is an avid football fan and has been seen at various football matches over the years. He accompanied his father to the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium last month, where Manchester United claimed victory over Manchester City.
William has also taken George with him to watch his beloved Aston Villa play at Villa Park, where the home team triumphed over Lil osc in the Europa Conference League. It seems that William is sharing his passion for Villa with his oldest son, who was seen wearing the home team scarf and applauding as Aston Villa scored.
Royal fans gushed over George and his father at Wembley, with one ex-user writing, “Two future kings of England. George is looking like his dad and the Spencer side of his family.” Another commenter praised George’s maturity, noting his poised demeanor during the match.
Prince William has been open about his appreciation for the sport, revealing that he has football to thank for some of his closest friendships. Playing football during his youth, he formed strong bonds with his peers. Recalling his fondest memories from childhood, William shared, “Some of the greatest friendships are born from playing games, being pushed together slightly in adversity.” He fondly remembered playing simultaneous games of football with his entire school set, an experience he cherished.
As the England team prepares for the UEFA European Championship, they carry with them the well-wishes and support of Prince William and his family, along with the sage advice from Prince Louis.
