Speaking to reporters after the Dubs’ 123-116 over the Kings on Wednesday, Curry gave a message to fans ahead of the potential series-clinching game: Get there on time.
“Make sure y’all get y’all butts in the seats at 5 o’clock tipoff,” Curry said at the end of his Game 5 presser. “It’s a little early, but everybody get off of work early in the bay.”
While Warriors fans have earned themselves a reputation of rowdiness, their timeliness leaves a lot to be desired.
For the two games in this first-round series that took place in San Francisco, fans were still finding their seats (and voices) early in games that tipped at 7 p.m.
It’s hard to imagine anything more inspiring than a direct message from Curry himself, but perhaps laying out the stakes might help: The Dubs fell behind 2-0 in the series, leading some to declare the dynasty dead in the water, only to roar back to a 3-2 lead. This game could not only stick another fork into those premature declarations, but it would also secure a huge series win at home, and what’s better than that?
